  MICHIGAN RAMS Collegiate Baseball

RAMS History
April 07, 2013

The Michigan Rams play in the Michigan Collegiate Baseball League, Michigan's premier wood bat league. The league is based in Livonia, MI, a western suburb of Detroit, and is sponsored by Livonia Parks and Recreation. The MCBL is a collegiate developmental league consisting of 22-and-under, and 23-and-under teams. The Rams have been in the MCBL since 1996, with a cumulative record of 357-253-12 through the 2012 season.

The Rams earned seven consecutive appearances (2003 - 2009) in the All American Amateur Baseball Association National Tournament (AAABA) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, with a best finish of 3rd in the nation, several times. During this period, the Rams were 174-97-6.

The Rams returned to the AAABA National Tournament in 2012, finishing 3rd in the nation.

The prestige of the AAABA tournament can best be shown by the following stats: Over 400 AAABA players have advanced to Major League Baseball. 60 AAABA players have been Major League All Stars. 3 AAABA players have been elected to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. 6 AAABA players have been named an MLB MVP. 5 AAABA players have won the Cy Young Award. 6 AAABA players have been named MLB’s Rookie of the Year. 6 AAABA players have been named MLB’s Manager of the Year.

In 2007 and 2012, the Rams won the Ohio regional at Zanesville, Ohio.

In addition, the 20-and-under Rams finished 3rd in the nation at the NABF College World Series (a 22-and-under tournament) in 2002. In 2010, the Rams qualified for the AABC Stan Musial tournament.

The Rams are coached by Rick Berryman, Harvey Weingarden, and Nate Hoffman. Mrs. June Berryman is the team's statistician/scorekeeper.
